Bernice Felix was known for her love of fashion and family. But it was her abiding love for Judaism, Israel and Zionism that motivated her to give generously and regularly to Hadassah, including a transformational gift in her Will that will bring the highest levels of cancer care and research to Israel.
Her mother, Elizabeth, had been president of the Philadelphia chapter of Hadassah. Her late husband, Sidney (z"l), a dentist, was an Associate. A Hadassah Life Member, Bernice loved to read Hadassah Magazine cover to cover. When she traveled to Israel, she always visited Hadassah Hospital–Ein Kerem, which she helped to decorate with road tiles she gifted in honor of loved ones.
Bernice's favorite way to support Hadassah was through charitable gift annuities, which she created almost every year. After she passed away, a transformational gift in her Will will establish a Center of Excellence for oncology treatment and research at Hadassah Medical Organization (HMO). The center, which is in the planning stages, will bring the highest levels of treatment and research of oncology under one roof. Bernice's extraordinary gift will help to provide future medical advancements through state-of-the-art research labs, as well as experimental medicine and clinical labs.
Throughout her lifetime, Bernice made an incredible difference to her devoted family members and to her community. Today, and into the future, her generosity will make a meaningful difference to so many in her beloved Israel and around the world.
